This restaurant is pretty awesome - It really is a Vege Paradise :) My family and I have been coming here since it opened - especially when it's a no-meat day in Buddhist practice (beware of those day because there is usually a very long line/wait time). The restaurant is very clean and service is better than at your average Asian joint. It's usually pretty quiet here. The food is flavorful without being overbearing, clean, appetizing and consistent - you won't miss meat. They have a variety of food choices from the basic veggies to a vegetarian tiramisu! (Their orange chicken, vege fish with bean curd and vege chicken & sesame oil & thin noodle are my absolute favorites!) Even if you're not vegetarian, I highly recommend that you try this place - the food is really exceptional. PS. they also have stamp cards with the same concept as that in boba tea houses - fill up all the stamps and get 10% off your meal when you present the card (does not apply on weekends).

Not to sound corny, but this place really is vege paradise The fried button mushrooms tasted just like orange chicken, you won't miss the meat! I love bean curd, so I enjoyed the bean curd with spinach, its an acquired texture so it's not for everyone but I love it! I wish they had hot mustard but they didn't, boo. The basil eggplant was also yummy. Nice restaurant with attentive staff. I've had jai at Happy Family, their food is amazing also. The only reason I'd say I like that place better is they have a ayce option. Vege paradise is a nicer restaurant tho.

This place is pretty awesome, albeit I'm not a vegetarian. Their "orange chicken" is delicious and made from mushrooms but the sauce used almost masks that fact. There's a wide variety of menu choices to choose from as the other reviews/tips show, and tea is always free of course. Coming during lunch hours provides a couple key benefits: - your price will be lower (the image attached was around $24 for everything and we needed a to-go box) - the notoriously packed parking lot will have ample spaces (we found parking in the row closest to the restaurant) Again, I'm a fan of the orange chicken but the green beans and hot and sour soup were both quite good. A dash of white pepper in the soup did the trick. Swing by for a filling yet light meal, with quick service and portions that match the price asked.

Really really happy with Vege Paradise! Been here twice within a week - once to have lunch and taste test their food, and the second time for an occasion. Our first visit was great - got there on a Thursday around 1:30pm and had some lunch. Our second visit, we reserved two tables and ordered the set meal (B for $188) for each table. I wish I had taken pictures of everything but I couldn't. I like how this place focuses on using vegetables in interesting and tasty ways instead of subbing fake meat for everything. Everything we had on both visits was delicious and beautifully plated. Service is great! Very friendly and helpful. Restaurant itself is rather spacious, they don't have any small tables so you might end up at a very spacious table with lots of extra chairs. Located on the second floor of Focus Plaza, kinda above the boba place.

I love the orange chicken with brown rice. You'd never guess all the dishes are vegetarian. There's a soy sauce chili dipping sauce that pairs well with everything. There's usually no wait and the service is good.

For a vegetarian restaurant, the food is great! If you can make tofu taste like meat, i'm all for it. My in-laws are vegetarian and Vege Paradise is one of our go-to restaurants for family dinners. They are usually really packed on holidays. //Location// They are located upstairs in Focus Plaza. You pretty much have to stalk someone who is leaving for a spot as this plaza gets really busy or park all the way in the back of the parking lot. //Food// My in-laws generally order so I don't know the specific names of the dishes but I'll try my best to describe my favorites. They have a cold dish that comes on a huge boat dish. It has various vegetarian meats, sticky rice, sushi rolls, coral of some sort, etc. Very tasty and amazing presentation. See photo yelp.com/biz_photos/vege… Vegetarian chicken w/ brown sauce - Tastes like orange chicken except it's a mushroom instead of chicken. [My favorite dish here]. Vegetarian pork in a sesame pita bread appetizer (it has chili peppers in it so pick it out if you're not into spice) Bean curd skin and spinach Crispy oyster mushroom - the flavor reminds me of popcorn chicken at boba shops except it's made with mushrooms. //Price// I've never paid since my in-laws treat us but I believe it's pretty expensive since it's vegetarian food.

Maybe this type of food is just not for me. I didn't do the orders, but I recall we ordered stuff that was supposed to be imitation fish and chicken, among other veggie items. All of them tasted A-OK to me. Actually, my favorite item was the fried pancake, which you can get at other non-vegetarian Chinese restaurants. I suppose if your a vegetarian, this might be good stuff, but I feel like I'd rather get a salad. Great service here!

We don't eat vegetarian very often but if this place was closer to home, that may very well change. This place is really big and the decor was very nice. The service was really good too. What about the food? Yes, it was very tasty. We went by the yelp recommendations and were completely happy with our choices. Our order: Pumpkin tofu hot pot - very saucy and made me enjoy eating pumpkin. Fried oyster mushroom - could use a little more salt but we still loved it. Fish with shot beans - tasted just like a real fish! Spinach with tofu skin - also very saucy and delicious. King Paso chicken with basil - prolly my favorite dish. All in all, a very fine establishment. We want to be back soon!

They make vegetarian dishes taste so good!! Favorite dishes I always order include: - crispy chicken in brown sauce (looks like orange chicken but with mushrooms) - crispy oyster mushroom - vege fish in black bean sauce - bean curd skin and spinach - appetizer cold dish of bean curd noodles We pair it with 2 bowls of brown rice (which is enough for our usual group of 6 more). Everything is really flavorful and my favorites above do a great job in masquerading what they are meant to be (chicken, fish or oysters). I've only come for lunch, so before our entrees, we'd get a complimentary bowl of hot and sour soup. Don't forget to also pick up a stamp card!

I'm vegetarian because of tasty restaurants like these. When there's such a variety of options for vegetarian food, I couldn't see a reason not to be veggie. Try the Fried Chicken with Basil, the Pork chops and Eel, and Shrimp in Mayo with Walnuts. My favorites~

Actually pretty good and if if vegan/vegetarian food tasted like this I might strongly consider altering the way I eat. Okay, thats not entirely true. Granted, all veggie dishes is a hard sell on anyone used to the meat stuffs. Case in point was when we gathered all our relatives to the banquet area of the restaurant to celebrate my dad's birthday. The kids, though they scarfed down the food, clearly expressed how much they wanted In-n-Out after. The thing is we have new in-laws and they have dietary restrictions which makes large gatherings like this difficult. Not at Vege Paradise. You get the wonderful blend of a banquet room style Chinese restaurant with Chinese Vegetarian dishes that are incredibly diverse. Thats not easy to find! Plus the presentation is truly top-notch, bar none. We had a large boat shaped dish complete with a beautiful mixture of sliced cucumbers and bean curd items all on top of bountiful green leafy veggies. Equally impressive was the tofu soup which was covered in a dark forest green base topped with a green mushroom. As spinach-y as it looked, it was really pretty good and Popeye himself would have approved. The real winner of the day was the imitation orange chicken or what they called crispy chicken in brown sauce. To me it tasted about 95% like orange chicken but there was that slight twinge of tofu at the end. Nevertheless, all the kids enjoyed it and thats saying something. I was really surprised and impressed with the presentation and execution of the dishes at Vege Paradise. It really is a paradise for vegetarians simply because there menu is so vast and diverse that you aren't stuck with the usual dish that other restaurants half-heartedly whip up to appease more finicky eaters. Instead, here you'll find that each dish really brings a lot of flavor and creativity and that is really what I liked. It is a little bit hidden in this plaza (on the 2nd floor) but its worth finding when you want a big healthy meal that will keep all the diners happy.

My grandmother had decided that this would be the place for dinner after my grandfather's funeral. It is Buddhist tradition to eat vegetarian food after a passing of love one. My grandmother had tried out 3 Chinese vegetarian places and decided on the day of funeral we would have our family and friend's gathering here and luckily they were able to accommodate at the last minute for over 60 people. Even on a Wednesday evening, the place was pretty packed with other customers. I found all their food pretty tasty and better than Happy Family.

Surprisingly, this Veggie restaurant was pretty good. In San Gabriel Square on the 2nd floor. We had tofu skin with Spinach, eggplant with tofu and crispy oyster mushrooms. All were pretty tasty. Usually sometimes feeling underfed. We walked out pretty full with some leftovers. I would recommend meat eaters to try this place out. Free parking downstairs with the 99 Ranch market next door.

I hate the location of the restaurant but Vege Paradise may become my go to for vegetarian Chinese food. Everything we ordered was pretty good. My favorite dish was the eel with teriyaki sauce. It tasted very similar to the real thing! I'm definitely eating here again when I'm in San Gabriel.

My friend has been raving about Vege Paradise for well over a year now so when another friend asked me if I wanted to go, I was definitely game! I came here with three other people last Saturday for lunch. The line was out the door! I wasn't expecting vegetarian to be so popular but I guess people wanted to avail themselves of the lunch specials. We had to wait about twenty minutes for a table at their peak, which isn't too bad at Focus Plaza (once you find parking) since there's so much going on here. You can easily pass time by taking a trip down to Daiso. We ordered the stir fried spinach, the puff pastry pumpkin soup, the basil salt and pepper fried "chicken," a tofu dish with Napa cabbage, and a pot with Chinese "sausage" and tofu. Of course all the meats are imitation. In full disclosure I've only had vegetarian a few times and my usual stomping grounds is Happy Family in Monterey Park. VP is much better. The dishes seem more refined and even though there are lunch specials, the portions were not skimpy. I think my favorite was the fried chicken which didn't taste like mushrooms or tofu at all. They were lightly fried bites seasoned with salt, pepper and basil. I also appreciated the spinach because it was so simple but well executed. The pot I probably wouldn't get again just because the sausage wasn't super convincing. The Napa cabbage dish was standard; I wish there was more beancurd than what we got. It was 95 percent cabbage. I loved the puff pastry with pumpkin purée soup. It was a little sweet, made to order, and splitting one among the four of us was the perfect way to end the meal. Note that all lunch specials also come with your choice of rice (white or brown) or porridge. Service: pretty good for this neighborhood. Bottom line: good pick for vegetarian food. Come here for the lunch special!

Not sure if i just ordered the wrong thing or the fact that they didn't have good tasting hot sauce lol... I thought everything was okay...not amazing or even super good...it was just okay. I will come back though to give it another try! What We Ordered: - Spinach and Bean Curd - Hot and Sour "Chicken" - Almond Milk Tea Puff Pastry

Came here on a weeknight after a Chinese Lyft driver recommended this place for vegetarian Chinese food. The outdoor lot was full but there were plenty of spaces in the free garage at the back of this outdoor mall. The restaurant is nicer than a strip mall restaurant, I feel like I could take my parents here for a night out, it's a kind of laid back banquet hall. Spring rolls were standard, I had the pumpkin hot pot which was a little bland BUT my husband had the crispy veggie chicken nuggets with basil and they were a revelation! After I tried them I lost all interest in my hot pot. I also finished them for leftovers the next day. The nuggets were so tasty it was almost scary because I couldn't figure out what was going on with them. I hope to come back to try other menu items and find something as good as the nuggets. I like that the menu at Vege Paradise has pictures. Service was attentive.

I'm convince that Vege Paradise and Fine Garden Vegetarian Restaurant sell the same thing. They both have the same thing on the menu, the food tastes exactly the same, and they're both meat-free! Vege Paradise is located UPSTAIRS in the [Kim Kardashian's daughter] corner of this huge plaza. Parking can be tedious during the weekend, but coming here is quite enjoyable. Though the food is exactly the same as Fine Garden, Vege Paradise does offer a lunch special, which makes things less stressful for your wallet. The lunch special starts at 11am and ends around ~1 or 2ish. The lunch special prices range from $6 to $9. VP is also a lot larger and is more presentable than FG. Though the regular prices seem to be the same, VP is better alternative if you are somewhat trying to impress your friends. They have two menus: a limited-picture menu as well as a large text menu. My favorite dish that I highly recommend is their Veggie Chicken Nugget with Orange Peel (aka Orange Chicken). It is NOT spicy, even though there are chili peppers. Another dish I like to order is their crispy oyster mushroom. They're small mushrooms covered in batter, but they are pretty good. There's a lot of faux meat that I like... such as their veg beef and their veg fish. Their dishes may be a bit heavy on the sauce, but YOLO. I'm not 100% if all this food is vegan... but you can always ask. Credit card is accepted but there is a $25 minimum.

Clean fresh produces, above average services and ambience. Pleasant flavors that make u feeling refreshed and energetic rather than stomach turning and tired. unless of course u order the addictive deep fried sauce drenched fare then this is only marginally better then typical Chinese food so order wisely

This is my all-time favorite restaurant! Every single item on the menu is 100% vegetarian, and most are vegan, too! Even my carnivorous dining companions love to join me at Vege Paradise! Amazing food packed with flavor. Heaping portions. Great variety on the menu. Fantastic service with waiters who remember us every time we come! The best dish on the menu is the Sautéed Rice Cakes. Cooked to perfection, it features veggies, small pieces of chicken, al dente rice cakes, and the most sensational sauce you've ever had. Many Asian restaurants serve a variation of this dish, but Vege Paradise has the best by far. The Hot and Sour Soup is also fantastic! It's packed with bamboo, mushroom, and egg! A perfect way to start the meal!

We're not Vegetarian but I really like this place. The orange chicken, tofo type dishes (most of the dishes on the menu), vegetables, sushi type rolls are all very well made and taste like meat (when it's a meat dish that you order). Sweet and sour soups are good too. We keep going down the menu to try different things and so far have liked it all. If the kids like it, it's a thumbs up for me and the kids love it!!!

Been here twice. Both times the service was good. The food was excellent. Love the fact that they have lunch specials everyday of the week (comes with soup & your choice of rice). Don't underestimate the fact that it's vegetarian food. You WILL be full. Move over Happy Family! Vege Paradise is now my go to vegetarian restaurant :) Thanks for another great find Yelp! TIP: Credit card policy of $25+

When I first came here, I was a little skeptical because it was a vegetarian restaurant, and I normally don't eat that stuff. My mom recommended the pineapple fried rice, and I also got the fried chicken with basil. Both were amazing, especially the pineapple fried rice. I don't think I've ever tasted pineapple fried rice like that. It had flavor but it wasn't oily like fried rice often is. The prices here are pretty cheap too, especially if you go during the lunch special.

The good: Free soup and pumpkin porridge when I ate lunch here. I think it came with some sort of lunch special (which I was totally unaware of when I came to eat here). Also, three dishes including tax and tip only came to $32. That's cheap! The meh: The food didn't wow me. I was hoping for something really delicious because the ratings were so good, but it was just okay. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing tasted great. The bad: The parking in the plaza this place is located is a nightmare. I circled around looking for parking for over 15 minutes. Uuuuuugh. Overall, a decent place to eat if you're nearby and want exclusively vegetarian food, but I wouldn't make a special trip out there.

Delicious vegetarian place. Love the honey ham sandwich, the crispy skin soup, and the lunch special -- congee and the egg, seaweed, bean curd tofu mix. Took pics to show you. Hopefully I can post them with my review.

One of our usual spots. Food is always on point here. The tofu skin is a must dish here. Well seasoned and juicy. My daughter personally enjoyed the fish and mushrooms. The sea food crispy roll is a added bonus. And now to the cherry on top. (Again this is a personal opinion) They have what I would consider one of the best tasting pumpkin soups. (Bodhi Cuisine on Rosemead is also in the running) Rich, creamy, fluffy and crispy. What more can I say. Greatness!

I drag my family here every year for my birthday - we've been coming for a long time! The location is not ideal (good luck finding a spot in that parking lot!), but the food is worth the hassle. The restaurant only gets busy on the 1st and 15th of every month of the Chinese calendar. It's pretty dead most other times. My favorite dish is the black pepper veggie fish, but I recently also tried the yee mein fried noodles and thought they did a good job there as well. Yes, sometimes service is slow or the dishes can be under-seasoned, but generally the quality is consistent, and for this type of food it doesn't get much better than Vege Paradise.

Never a fan of vegetarian restaurants like Tender Greens or Native Foods, as most places serve boring kale/quinoa salads and ridiculous juice cleanses, but you won't find that crap here. Vege Paradise showed me that vegetarian dishes can actually be exciting and delicious. I love meat, but dare I say, some of the imitation meats taste better than the real thing. My favorites are the "Pork Kidneys" and Beancurd with "Shredded Pork." As flavorful as real pork, but lighter with less cholesterol. The Eggplant with Tofu and Almond Milk Tea is worth trying too. Tip: Come for their lunch specials. Includes a bowl of Hot and Sour Soup plus rice/porridge with free refills. While I'm usually still starving after eating just a salad, I never leave hungry here.

  • Mattie L.

The fried mushroom chicken is really tasty. It tasted like real chicken. The brown rice is very satisfying with a dollar extra. The sweet and sour soup is healthy and juicy. Never expected vegan meal to taste so good. The pumpkin soup is divine. The crispy layer of the top bread along with pumpkiness inside of the layering soup. Everything is cheap during lunch hours.

This is my go-to vegetarian restaurant when I'm in SGV. I absolutely love the crispy puff pastry with pumpkin bisque and I order it every time I'm here. Aside from that, three flavors cold dish (sans vege jelly fish), fried rice with herb sauce (I know it looks plain, but the subtle flavors work really well when paired with the more heavily flavored dishes), radish and egg pancake, and crispy vege chicken nuggets with basil are must-haves for my meal here (it's an eclectic collection of cuisine styles but they work great together). I've tried a hot pot dish once or twice and thought they were fine (can't remember what I had). I never had any luck with the Japanese courses or the noodle-y dishes, so I avoid those sections of the menu now. Stick with the entrees section if you're not sure what to get, you can't really go wrong there.

As a carnivore, I am a little weary of vegetarian anything. But let's just say that the food is sooo yummers here that I could totally be a vegetarian. What's funny about asian vegetarian is that they make their dishes after real savory meat dishes. It's not salad seventeen ways, or cheese pizza for life. You have things like kung pao chicken (what!?) and deep fried pork chop (what?!) on the menu. Vegetarians...do not fear, no meat is near! And carnivores, be prepared to wonder how the HECK this meatless food is so yummers! Here are my top recommendations (all pictured): Kung Pao Chicken - Veggie chicken bits with Japanese cucumber, peanuts and Kung Pao sauce Crispy mushroom in brown sauce - Breaded and deep fried mushroom in brown sauce, so good you'll wonder how it is that you've never had this as a mainstream item before. Chef's Special: Stewed cabbage roll - Little rolls of deliciousness. Veggie pork/chicken meat links wrapped in napa cabbage and steamed in a light gravy...served on a bed of spinach, NOMS! Chef's Special: Pumpkin Bisque - Think of the best lobster bisque you've ever had....I battle that with this Pumpkin Bisque. Seriously :) The pumpkin bisque is creamy and buttery, yet light and that little puff pastry is to dieeee for. +1 dollar for white rice, +1 dollar for brown rice, take your pick. TIP: Lunch time is wayyyy cheaper than dinner. (It's the same food, but different price pending on time of day)

The dishes were very tasty for me. The price was reasonable. Even for me eating vegetarian, I find myself coming back for more.

They make excellent vegetarian food! Some of their dishes seem Taiwanese in origin as well, which I loved. Their crispy oyster mushroom and bean curds with pickled cabbage are my favorite dishes! I love having congee with everything here, it just gives the experience such an authentic feel to it. The prices are a little higher than some other vegetarian places, but for the occasional trek out to 626 for real chinese/vegetarian food, I don't mind!

Pros: 1) Lunch special from Monday to Sunday 11:00 - 2:50pm which is nice because I work in West Hollywood and would never be able to make it over for the lunch special! 2) Lunch special is affordable, ranging from $6.95 to $7.95 including entree, soup, and rice (choice of brown rice, white rice or porridge). 3) Good and attentive service. 4) Food delicious. A bit greasy but given the great flavor, I got over it. 5) If you come earlier in the lunch hour, you can sit in some comfortable booths. 6) EVERYTHING on the menu is vegetarian! No need to sift through pages of pages of the menu hoping the veggie ramen isn't made from beef broth. Lol. Cons: 1) It's located in a very busy shopping/restaurant complex. Parking can be a bit crazy and there are pedestrians weaving in and out of the parking lot. Be careful! 2) Credit card purchases need to exceed $25 so bring cash if you and/or a buddy are coming for the lunch special. Overall, a fantastic experience. Will be back soon!

We love this place! We try and order something different every time we come...usually once every week or two. Have never had a bad dish-not a vegetarian and I still enjoy it! You never feel heavy after eating and we always have leftovers. The almond milk puff dessert is so good...not too sweet, and the staff is always very nice. Very clean too! Fried oyster (mushrooms), spinach tofu, any of the fish dishes, kung pao chicken...never had a bad dish :)

I love meat, but I didn't miss it while I was here. The "Orange Chicken" was so delicious I couldn't stop eating it! In fact, all of the dishes I had when I came here with my family were surprisingly good. The service was really nice. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is vegetarian, and anyone who isn't.

FOOD (no meat T_______T): 1. Pumpkin Bisque ( yelp.com/biz_photos/vege… ) - I'm going to start with my favorite. Creamy, good pumpkin flavor, a tiny hint of sweetness, HOT, and a delicious baked cover! YUM! It's kind of expensive for a bowl of soup, but it's worth it. If you like sweets, get the Almond tea one. OH MY GOSH....both are delicious!!! 2. Fried Bread Roll ( yelp.com/biz_photos/vege… ) - I LOVE this stuff! I've always liked fried bread rolls! They're a bit sweetened, but not overly sweet. Reminds me of a "mantoe"...the food, not the body part. 3. Nagaimo with carrots, mushrooms and lima beans ( yelp.com/biz_photos/vege… ) - This stuff is good! While many people might think that the very healthy nagaimo is bland and tasteless, I happen to LOVE this stuff! It's got a crispy feel when you chew it, and a very unique taste. 4. Fish ( yelp.com/biz_photos/vege… ) - I mean..."Fish". Okay...this was pretty much tofu with crispy beans...kind of not fishy. My family liked it, and I'm sure I would've liked it more if I didn't know it was supposed to be "fish". Too much expectations. 5. Bean curd with spinach ( yelp.com/biz_photos/vege… ) - This was pretty good, too. Good sauce and flavors and isn't too salty. 6. Pickled cabbage with "beef" ( yelp.com/biz_photos/vege… ) - I am assuming this was beef. Honestly, I get really confused with vegetarian dishes....just look at the picture. @.@ 7. Sesame Oil (?) Soup with Noodles ( yelp.com/biz_photos/vege… ) - Alright...what the heck?! Again, look at the picture and trust when I say that this is a very delicious dish! As a matter of fact, my family and I always orders this dish (and #1 and #3) when we come to Vege Paradise. 8. Lettuce wrap with...vegetarian stuff in it ( yelp.com/biz_photos/vege… ) . You're supposed to roll it up and eat it like a spring roll. I didn't particularly enjoy this dish. It was kind of bland with the giant piece of lettuce, which I felt masked the flavors of the "meat". FINAL VERDICT: WOW, that took effort. I've never felt so lost trying to figure out exactly what was eaten. I couldn't tell by the menu either! So I'm leaving it up to the pictures! My family anhttp://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vege-paradise-san-gabriel?select=PBe5L8hcA7IqIOV-a_AT7w#6l7ZLk9HlAafU_bm0kF19wd I do enjoy coming to Vege Paradise. We are mostly omnivores, and the fact that we actually like this place a lot shows it's actually pretty darn good!

I thought this place would be similar if not the same as Happy Family but they have more inventive dishes. The crispy fried mushrooms were good. I will be back to try all there other dishes. Comfortable seating and very fast and friendly service.

Excellent service. Really delicious. Great ambiance. Happy people. Sugar snap peas, asparagus, ginkgo and lily petals (mmmmm m). Eggplant casserole. Rice cakes w/ veggies (yumm). Mock kidney w/ basil (o yah). 8 treasure taro pudding (bliss).

I don't really go out of my way to eat vegetarian food but this place is actually a place I would go. Service is good here and the food usually comes out quickly and very good. I really like the eggplant with tofu in hot pot. It has a very good flavor and not too oily like some other vegetarian places. Lunch special was really good too so can't beat that. $6.95 for a dish. Only thing is the parking sucks but if you time it right you should have no issues with parking.

I love vegetarian food and I love this restaurant! Prices are reasonable and they have a wide variety of dishes! I really recommend going during lunch hours for their lunch specials (savings actually easily add up). It's also inside a plaza with lots of other Chinese eateries. There's cuisines from different parts of China, hot pot, boba, etc. The only downside is that parking can get pretty bad during peak hours. I often go for lunch on the weekends and usually need at least 15 mins to find parking -_-.

I walked into Vege on a whim (a whim of starvation) and I'm glad I did. I might like it better than Happy Family. I dream about their pancake, in my current mind it is literally the best food I have ever had or can imagine having. It's the perfect combo of carb, fat, salt, sesame, and flavor... If you're not that familiar with some of the...um...yeah...if you can't read all of the menu, that's okay. It has pictures. Sometimes I just take a chance and order something that sounds or looks good. It may be amazing (brown sauce mushroom fried thing) or it may be not my taste, really (healthy herb yam and oyster mushroom thing). But it will still be quality. I haven't had an order here be too terribly greasy yet, either. Some things are more than others, less so than HF, but more so than my beloved Vegi Wokery in Cerritos. Many families come here which is sweet to see--you can tell it's very popular, I'm not the only one who likes it! It might be a nice date spot if you like dates. Before maybe you can take your date to the nail supply store down the road or go to Daiso and see who can find the best thingie for $1.50. After dinner take a stroll along the seafood Riveria aka Ranch 99's live seafood bins and play with the crabs and lobster. Tell them I sent you (no, please do not).

I came here long time ago with my aunt, and treated her for lunch. We had a mid-size table for only 2 people, with nice customer services. Our bill was about $30 with take out boxes. One of the few nice vegetarian food place.

Get the cripsy oyster mushrooms and their crispy popcorn chicken :) I'm a vegetarian so I loveeeeee places like this ! Def a must try, it gets busy for lunch! The parking lot is a BEEZY so be prepared to fight and get angry for a parking spot

Hands down the best vegetarian Chinese restaurant in the SGV, and we've tried ALL of them. The menu items at VP is identical to almost all of the other Chinese veg restaurants but what made it stand out is the cleanness and quality of the dishes. For one, VP's dishes aren't packed enough sodium to kill a horse. There's almost no MSG in any of the items so we never suffer from that nasty hairy parched tongue syndrome after eating. The quality and service are always consistent no matter how busy they are. This is because unlike other Chinese restaurants, VP is not vulnerable to the whim and temperament of their cooks. All of the sauces and spice ingredients are in the hands of the owners. This effectively ensures that cooks only need to worry about the raw ingredients which streamlines the preparation of the food. But enough of the technical bullshit Bottom line, while not all of their dishes are winners, VP does offer the freshest, most flavorful yet refreshingly light vegetarian food in the area. After trying almost everything on the menu, these are my favorites: 1. Seaweed soup 2. Lettuce wrap 3. Sauteed pea sprout 4. Three cup Chicken 5. House special spicy dish Avoid any dish with "shrimp" which as the texture and consistency of pencil eraser and the pricey tung po pork which taste like bland rubbery jello.

I'm a carnivore. No, I don't eat other homo sapiens... I do like ma meat. Yep. But I do appreciate great vegetarian restaurants. Especially ASIAN vegetarian restaurant. Eating "meat" with 0 guilt? Count me in :) I was here with my bf's family for lunch. The lunch specials were exceptional! 7-8 per dish, you get to pick white rice/ brown rice/ porridge (so thoughtful for the elderly customers with weak teeth ) They even have the specials for the weekends!!! You can just put all the dishes in the middle and share family style. Nomz The NOMZ: +eggplant with hot sauce +crispy mushroom in brown sauce +tofu and pumpkin in hot pot +crispy 'chicken' nuggets in basil The MEHH: -vege kidney with basil -steamed vege fish The meal with leave you full, but not uncomfortably full. A big all vegetable and supposedly MSG free meal was delicious and healthy. But I for sure had enough room half an hour later for a big cup of boba... (the vegetable just get digested so quickly in my fatty stomach :3 ) Overall, everybody in the family from young to old enjoyed their meals at an amazing price!

(Chinese vegetarian place, so no onion or garlic too) - of course, they give you hot tea - the house vege chicken with brown sauce is bomb. it's cute lil breaded mushrooms and fried and it's like a non-spicy orange chicken - their udon noodle with black pepper sauce is so good and it has a lot of veggies mixed in too - i always love a good fried pancake - i really like the brown rice and pumpkin porridge (comes free in the lunch special)!!! and they have so much food.

The best vegetarian restaurant in all of San Gabriel. -Their prices are reasonable. -Their food is so good that you can't tell it's actually vegetarian. -Limited selection of drinks, but their thai milk tea is perfect!! not too sweet and full of the thai tea flavor. -Their bread is bomb!! Fried or streamed it's still amazing!! -Their waitresses speak canto, mando, and english so it was very easy to communicate with them. -They have lunch specials seven days a week. -I've never had to wait to be seated. -The only thing that sucks is their location because since it's located in a plaza, it is really hard to find a parking spot.

I'm a big fan of this place. It's always such a treat to dine here and their food is good quality, tasty, and affordable. Awesome lunch specials ranging from $7 to $8. You get soup and choice of pumpkin porridge or rice (white or brown). The porridge comes with free refills, however any extra bowls of rice beyond the one that comes with your lunch special will cost extra. My absolute favorite dish is their lotus and sweet peas. It's just a plate of delicious healthiness. Their wok fried string beans dish is also tasty and goes really well with rice. I always ask for light oil whenever I place my orders so my food is never overly greasy. All the staff here are wonderfully accommodating.

Garbage! Do not here if you care about your health. They use soy oil to cook all there food. I guess they didn't get the memo about the horrible adverse health effects soy has on the body.

Okay. For dinner, this place may get to be a bit pricey for the worth pf taste. However, when you come during their lunch special hour, people who are vegetarian or wish to try a pure vegetarian meal luck out in the SGV area. You get a sweet and sour soup, a choice between pumpkin pottage and rice and your entree. The vege house "chicken mushroom with brown sauce is basically fried mushrooms with a tantalising sweet soy sauce poured over top the mushrooms. Delicious and a must try if you enjoy mushrooms. However, if you are not a fan of mushrooms, have no fear! They have this delicious pumpkin fried noodles that is really nice and hot but mild on the stomach. The flavour is set to mildly salty so that people may adjust the flavour to their preference. They also have this really filling dish called vege fish tofu brown sauce which is basically a fried packed beancurd which simulates the texture of fish and is wrapped in seaweed. For dessert, an almond tea with puff pastry over the top will soothe any person sweet tooth. However, word of advice, this is a hot drink enjoy if you like to drink hot thingss!!!! Overall the waitresses are kind people, service is good, parking can be a hassle during rush hour, and the space is very clean so 5/5 for price and taste of food that is vegetarian! Great place to experience a vegetarian meal!

Food and establishment are excellent. Fast courteous service. Love the orange chicken, smoked duck, meat ball, and squash. Cheap lunch special comes with soup and rice

This place sucks, in service. Clearly they had preference on good service to others. Came here with children, even if they behave and entertain enough hungry kids equals irritable grumpy sleepy kids. Took over half hour just to bring us water for children.

We've been going there as much as we could whenever we're in LA. It's a little far from where we're staying, but who cares! Their food is excellent, excellent, excellent! Yes, it's so good that we don't mind the traffic at all (take that, LA traffic!). Ok, really though, we usually go there on weekends, and the eat there plus take some extras home to eat the next day hahahahaha ;D The waitresses there are always ever so friendly, even when they're super busy. Our latest obsession is that vegetarian fried pork chop.... yeah, try not to order too often since it's fried... But they got so many awesome dishes that you just have to try them all... Oh maybe that's why we crave the pork chop cuz it's on our rolling list (takes a few visit before we get to order it again) hmm :/ Must return again, and again, and again... p.s. Where's the pic of the vegetarian fried pork chop, you said? Gone before I could take the phone out to take a pic, as usual, of course.

This place was amazing. Awesome service, nice and toasty inside, and wonderful food. My significant other and I ordered the crispy shitakee mushrooms, the crispy basil chicken(veggie of course), and the Buda veggie mix. All for under 40 dollars. Including tip! Will definitely be back again!

I would say one of the best tasting Vegan Restaurants i have been to!! Everything is delicious!!! I love their fried Oyster super crispy, Vege Chicken with basil, fish, and vege eel, and pork ribs, tofu pot, string beans etc!!! I come here with my family a lot and we enjoy the dishes! MUST TRY RESTAURANT for those who are Vegan/ Vegetarian!

Usually Chinese restaurant food is too greasy and meaty. This restaurant replaces all the meat with fake meat. If you didn't already know fake meat technology has really advanced over the past few years (esp. fake chicken) and it goes well with Chinese seasonings. Only problem is that things are a bit salty here.

It's time for my gf to be vegetarian so we went to her favorite vegetarian restaurant in San Gabriel. Personally I am a meat guy so don't go to vegetarian restaurant often, I am pretty surprised that they have many delicious entree, and those meat imitating entree are pretty close to the real thing too. Beside the good food, the service is excellent too, and I love their tiramisu cake too. I guess I will come back more often.

I am surprised that only 47 reviews posted for this great restaurant. I am picky when coming to food, especially vegetarian dishes since most of them are salty, greasy, with no creativity. This one, I am impressed. For appetizer, we had the shrimp egg roll and chili stuffed with meat, which was not on the menu. Both of them were good. Recommend to order. Note, the chili stuffed with meat is a cold dish. For entrée, we ordered almost all chef's special - pine nut fish, Tong-Po Pork, steamed pumpkin pork, eel and pork chop. I strongly recommend the pine nut fish one. They made the dish looked like a real fish shape. Sauce was good - sweet and more sour flavor. Pork chop and eel would be my 2nd recommendation. I was a bit disappointed about the Tong-Po Pork and steamed pumpkin pork. The winter melon in the Tong-Po Pork didn't seem to be pan-fried prior to cooking. The steamed pumpkin pork is just no flavor. For dessert, we had crispy pumpkin soup and almond soup and we like both of them. Overall, the food was good. Other than the Tong-Po Pork and steamed pumpkin pork, I would recommend other dishes that I listed above. BTW, the price wasn't too cheap in my opinion. For what we ordered, the bill came close to $100....

They changed their name from gourmet vegetarian to veggy paradise. Still one of the best Chinese vegetarian restaurant in town. Lots of creative dishes all delicious. Definitively a treat to your palate.

It doesn't get much better than this place. The menu is gigantic, and as far as I can tell, everything is good. My personal favorite is the braised tofu and pumpkin. Just try it; you'll see what I mean. The tofu ball soup, turnip cakes, and crispy oyster mushrooms are other standouts. If you are a vegan, you will need to specify that you don't want egg used in your dishes, especially if you're getting anything that is battered. Thus far, they have always been able to accommodate me. I came here recently with a group of non-vegans from out of town, and they were a little dubious at first of a vegetarian Chinese restaurant. Their doubts subsided when they saw how packed the place was with Chinese customers, and any lingering doubts vanished altogether when they took their first bite. We had a group of six, and we feasted like royalty. We ordered eight dishes between the six of us. The bill was a whopping $115. It's hard to beat a huge, delicious meal for six people for $115. As I previously mentioned, this place gets packed. If you come at 12:30 for lunch or 6:30 for dinner, be prepared to wait. If you show up early, though, you'll do just fine. Not only does the restaurant itself get packed, but so does the parking lot for the entire mall. I advise you to look at the parking situation as a life experience, an adventure of sorts. You're going to see some antics and shenanigans that you aren't likely to see anywhere else. Aggressive space-stealing, huge amounts of horn-blaring, boxing out of other cars, games of chicken with pedestrians and other motorists alike, and so on. Don't even think about trying to use the underground parking. That's just a waste of time.

Four monks and a family walk into a restaurant, this isnt a joke. The food here is wide in variety despite being vegetarian and the flavor is pretty good itself. Yes, there were actually monks dining here when I came If it wasnt for the high price, I would give it a five. I came in a big party, so I got to sample a decent amount of their menu. I loved the food here recommend the veggie liver and shrimp lomein. If it wasnt for the price to portion ratio and lack of service i had that day i would have given 5 stars

Front door lady has a bad attitude, we said we got a large party yet Jeep telling us to hold on. Hold on. We did hold on and she kept on asking us How many people do we have we said 10 three times.

I love (most of) the food at this place. I'm not much for vegetarian food, but I still like it. I recommend coming for the lunch special as the prices are not especially cheap. One thing I dislike is that they use teabags rather than loose tea leaves. If you come around 5, which is when they reopen after a break, you might not get good service. The workers are generally sitting around chatting with each other and probably won't be paying much attention to you. Avoid the shrimp; the texture is awful.

Only 25 reviews so I had to jot one down for Vege Paradise - "Chinese style food, without the greasy guilt!". Randomly named, this place is actually pretty tasty. The bean curd w/ spinach in soup was really really good.. ugly, but good. They also have an "orange chicken" that is really just orange chicken style mushrooms... a delight! They had some other interesting choices on the menu that I did not get a chance to try, but would definitely go back for. I don't recommend the "buddha's feast" or whatever the generic plate of steamed veggies is... it was a boring filler dish that we picked in fear of not ordering enough. Family style ordering is the way to go... and afterward, you can go to Daiso downstairs... at least that's what we did.

An evening without Orange Chicken is NOT my type of evening. Drink your tea and order up! I have tried a number of dishes here now and they are all excellent. Everything tastes fresh, well-prepared, and quality. I had one sub-par experience when the restaurant was PACKED, the food was more hastily preparedl. My tip: go early!

For vegan junk food, this place really is as good as it gets. The vege pork soup is a stand out. So is the orange chicken and the Buddha Feast and the crispy oyster mushrooms. The portions are more than fair and the service is warm and friendly. The food is priced exactly right, too. The menu (menu-zilla as my friend calls it) is huge and you can try a lot of different things without repeating for months. It's a fun place to eat. Highly recommended.

I ate here twice and love it. Their Lunch Special is great and it runs Monday through Sunday so I can enjoy the special on the weekend too. The special lunch also have choice of brown rice, white rice or porridge and with their daily soup. I ordered Chopped Mustard Green with Bean Curd Sheet and Soft Tofu and Pumpkin with Brown Sauce in Hot Pot. Both dishes came out great! I will definitely recommend it to my family and friend and I can't wait to be here again and try their other dishes.

DO NOT PAY WITH CASH!!! We just had our family dinner there. The bill came to be $108.xx after taxes, which I have no issues with. I felt the service had been pretty good, dishes we ordered tasted pretty good. Portion size was adequate and the kitchen was able to whip them out in good time so we didn't have to wait long. So why the low rating? I ended up paying $150. Seriously, have we become such a credit card dependent culture that people have lost the ability to count cash? Here I thought I was doing them a favor, so that they wouldn't have to be dinged by the "discount rate" for swiping/taking CC. (I'm a small business owner myself and I was trying to help an establishment out.) But instead, this experience has been rather infuriating. My family's out to dinner here, celebrating CNY late as we couldn't get together earlier. I go up to the counter, ask for the bill, saw the tab ($108.xx), and I take out 6x $20 and a $10 ($130 total). I figure a 20% tip would be decent enough. I can already hear my fellow Asians grumbling, "What? 20% tip at a Chinese restaurant?!?" I show the cashier the cash, counted it in front of them and said "tips included". Cashier seemed very happy. 2 minutes later, as I'm back in my chair, they hand me a small plastic dish with $1.50, and the waitress said it was the change. I'm thinking, "Wow, did they actually felt I paid too much in tips?" Then the cashier had the nerve to come by and say you paid $110, so here's the change, expecting me to fork out more money for tips. But wait, where's my receipt/invoice? I gave her the, "Are you serious?/Where's the candid camera, who's yanking my chains look?" And she glares back saying I gave her 5x $20s and a $10. Let's see. I don't consume alcohol at all. And if it wasn't for the fact that I counted $130 three times (2x flipping through my wallet before pulling out the bills and 1x on the counter top so she could see), I may have even gave her the benefit of the doubt. Instead, now I'm thinking because I paid cash, this gal probably pockets $20 for herself. Then she tries to make me out to be the cheap guy, the @$$ by not wanting to give a tip. The waitress who handed me the plastic tray seemed sheepish and was apologetic. So I figured, hell, if that's how it's going to be? Fine. I'll play along. I'll cough up an extra $20 so that the staff gets their tip. But I made sure the waitress was the one that picked up the cash tip this time, and then I told her, I won't be coming back to this circus. Congrats, Mrs. Cashier Lady. You just bought yourself (and the establishment this review). Moments later, the cashier offers to throw in $20 worth of freebies or some crap. Like that's going to make me forget and forgive what just happened? I just hope the staff gets to share the tip instead of this lady confiscating everything.

Hello veggie lovers! So, after the change of owners and names, I went to Vege Paradise with a small group so we were able to order a few more items, meaning more to try and review. The "tieh pan tofu" was good, but it takes some getting use to, especially if you are friendlier to the Japanese-style fried tofu that is much more softer on the fried outside. It was still delicious... because I love tofu. We also ordered some of the following. The salt and pepper udon wasn't that appealing because it seemed a little more bland and didn't have the kick you wanted when you normally would in a sizzling udon plate. The noodles were thick and a little harder to chew. There is a little sandwich made of the "mantou" flour (Chinese white bread), pineapple and vegetarian ham. Since I had not tried it in a long while, the taste was just enough, not overpowering. Luckily the bread was not soggy from pineapple and instead the thicker consistency made the three different items separate but complementary. You can never go wrong with the fried oyster mushrooms. It's just enough salt, but with the light crisp on the outside. More importantly, the mushroom is not overly-fried, so you can still have the taste of the mushroom and there's still mushroom left to chew. Thanks for reading. Maybe I will try another few dishes the next time around and share with you all. Have a happy veggie day.

Great restaurant for both vegetarians and Chinese food lovers alike. We've been coming here for years, and although we live thousands of miles away, we always have to stop by this place before we go back to Texas. I love their puff pastry soups, it's an oldie but goodie!

About the same as before the name change. Went for a Sunday dinner, it was very crowded, but was able to get seated in about 5 minutes. When the mushroom dish came out when we were ready to leave. Chow fun was fine, oily. Chicken basil was still good.

My mom introduced me to this place. There were a good variety of dishes on their menu. I like how they added very little oil and no msg to their food. My favorite was chicken with brown sauce. Yummy! Tasted just like chicken but it was mushroom! This place is quite popular with the older folks. Definitely a good spot for vegetarian food.

Lunch specials are awesome in price and quality. There was long wait list and 30 min wait at 11:45am, only 15 after it opens. Once you see the menu and tastes the food, you will know why! The food is delicious. Lunch special: come with hot and sour soup and choice of porridge, brown rice, or white rice Edamame, mustard green, and flat bean curd = delicious Lion's head. Glass noodle, meatball, napa cabbage = okay Seafood vege noodle (not lunch special) = awesome!! Bean curd with meat = pretty good Seasame pancake = great The seafood noodle was packed with diff kinds of mushroom, "shrimp" and "squid" The waitresses are nice, considering how busy they were. We will be back!

This is really a veggie heaven! The veggie dishes are flavorful and fresh. The bombing dish is the baked almond tea with the bread crust! It is so refreshing and not too sweet. Very authentic almond tea with red date inside, it's supposed to be good for your throat and skin, haha... (Make sure you save your stomach for this dessert) Take advantage of their lunch specials because it comes with a bowl of soup and either rice or yam porridge. I really enjoyed the yam porridge, they made it well! Very good prices on many of their lunch special dishes!

Stopped by this restaurant since my hubs and I were in the area. Our first time trying all vegetarian. Ordered fish, shrimp/squid veggies and bean curd spinach. Bean curd spinach was delish. We scraped the bowl clean. The fish was a little too hard, the shrimp had a weird texture IMO. The bean curd dish was the saving grace. I would definitely go back for that and try other dishes.

This is a very good place to have dinner. We have had excellent meals here twice; this last time we had the Buddha's delight and crispy fish. Good tea and a small starter salad were served to us very soon after we sat down. At the end of the meal we were served orange slices. Dinner was about $25 with tip. This is the best vegetarian restaurant we haved tried in the SGV so far. The service was very friendly.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
